Northern Vietnam Braces for Return of Hot Weather After Rain

Vietnam's weather patterns are shifting, with northern regions anticipating a decrease in rainfall from tonight, August 7th. Hot and sunny conditions are forecast to return to the north and north-central regions starting around August 9th.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued warnings for potential severe weather. These include thunderstorms, localized heavy downpours, lightning, and hail. These conditions are expected in the northern provinces, extending to areas from Thanh Hoa to northern Quang Tri, the central highlands, and the southern regions.

Overnight and early this morning, several northern locations experienced significant rainfall. Nậm Hàng in Lai Châu recorded 129.8 mm, Phú Tiến in Phú Thọ saw 85.2 mm, and Chúc Sơn in Hanoi received 79 mm. These amounts indicate intense, localized rain events.

Looking ahead, from August 8th to August 16th, the forecast suggests moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms in many northern areas. Coastal regions from Ha Tinh to Hue and the south-central coast will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with a chance of heavy rain in some spots. The central highlands and southern regions will continue to see scattered showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoons and evenings, with a possibility of heavier rain.
