Northland leader warns New Zealand must act now on fentanyl threat

A Northland community leader says New Zealand should act now against the threat posed by fentanyl and other synthetic opioids.

Experts say the country is not on the verge of a North American-style fentanyl epidemic. However, concerns remain over potent opioids and counterfeit medicines. Police and Customs say prevention is essential to keeping them out of New Zealand.
