Norway Issues Increased Forest Fire Hazard Warning for Finnmark

The Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow-level fire hazard warning for Finnmark, Norway, expanding the alert to cover large parts of northern Norway. This warning is in addition to existing yellow warnings already in place for southern Norway.

The alert specifically applies to eastern Finnmark and Sør-Varanger. It is currently set to remain in effect until Wednesday morning, or until significant rainfall helps to mitigate the risk. The warning highlights the potential for wildfires to affect extensive areas within the region.

Meteorologists are urging the public to exercise extreme caution and refrain from using open fires in the areas covered by the warning. This advisory comes as conditions are deemed conducive to the rapid spread of fires.

Similar warnings are already active across Sørlandet and significant portions of Østlandet. Additionally, the outer areas of Vestland county, south of Sognefjorden, are also under a fire hazard alert. The widespread nature of these warnings underscores a heightened risk of wildfires across multiple Norwegian regions.
