Norway's Chief of Defence Denies Wife Moved Due to World Cup Event Noise

Norway's Chief of Defence, Eirik Kristoffersen, has publicly refuted claims that his wife was forced to temporarily relocate due to noise from a World Cup event held near Akershus Fortress in Oslo.

Kristoffersen stated on Facebook that neither he nor his wife were consulted about the accuracy of the information before it appeared in meeting minutes from the Oslo City Environment Agency. The minutes mentioned security issues, vandalism, and intoxicated individuals related to the event, along with the claim about his spouse's temporary move.

Following the initial media reports, a spokesperson for the Defence Forces, Brage Steinson Wiik-Hansen, addressed the matter. He explained that the information about the relocation was a misunderstanding. According to Wiik-Hansen, an employee who attended the meeting had heard about the move and shared it in good faith, but the information turned out to be incorrect. Kristoffersen and his wife are referring to this employee when they state they were not asked about the situation. The couple maintains a residence in Moss, where his wife was staying, unrelated to the World Cup festivities.
