Norwegian Crown Princess pictured after lung transplant

The Norwegian Royal House has released the first photograph of Crown Princess Mette-Marit since she underwent a lung transplant in June. The image captures Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit seated together at the palace, adorned with a Norway scarf, following the national team's advancement to the World Cup quarter-finals.

This marks the first public appearance of the Crown Princess in a photograph shared by the Royal House since her successful transplantation. The Royal House conveyed their excitement on Instagram, stating, "Yesterday was a historic evening! The whole family followed with excitement! The King and Queen from Mågerø, the Crown Prince couple from the palace - and Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus at the stadium in the USA. Congratulations to the national team, the support staff, and Norway on the fantastic performance."

Following Norway's victory over Brazil, the Crown Prince joined approximately 100,000 fans in Oslo's city center to celebrate the team's achievement. The Crown Princess had been placed on the lung transplant waiting list on June 5, due to her chronic lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis, which was diagnosed in 2018. The successful transplant was announced on June 17.
