Norwegian TV firm's revenue more than doubles on international sales

Norwegian production company Montreux Film & Fjernsyn has reported a record financial year in 2025, more than doubling its revenue from 9.1 million kroner in 2024 to 23.2 million kroner.

The company's international breakthrough came with its TV concept "Norges dummeste" (Norway's Dumbest), which has been sold to markets including the USA, Germany, France, Finland, and Denmark. A US television giant, Fox, has ordered its own version of the show, titled "Nation's Dumbest."

Co-founder and CEO Jørgen Høst expressed his satisfaction, noting that an American agent even inquired about when they planned to move to Hollywood. However, Høst and co-owner Erik Solbakken are content with their Oslo office for now.

Høst attributed the record year to a long-term strategy of developing original concepts that have longevity beyond a single season. He explained that initial seasons are often the most challenging creatively and financially, but subsequent renewals lead to investments yielding returns. The company's operating profit surged from 437,000 kroner to 5.2 million kroner, with a net profit of 4.1 million kroner. The owners, Høst and Solbakken each holding 40 percent, took out a 5 million kroner dividend.
