Norwegians Wait Up to Seven Hours to Pay Final Respects to King Harald

Norwegians have waited for hours to pay their final respects to King Harald. The queue outside the palace chapel stretched for about 1.2 kilometers, and security officials said the wait had reached seven hours.

Visitors cannot see the king himself. His body lies inside a coffin covered by a red cloth with gold decorations. Thousands have already come to the palace since his body was transferred there last week.

Because of the long lines, the Norwegian court decided to keep the chapel open longer. People can visit from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. today, tomorrow and Monday. Tuesday will be the final day, with opening hours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
