Not even the school lunch was spared: Equipment stolen and doors destroyed at Luque school

Thieves stripped classrooms at the Medalla Milagrosa school in Luque, with the youngest pupils bearing the brunt of the raid. The burglars entered before dawn, cut the main power to disable surveillance and ransacked six classrooms.

Three cameras and lights were stolen, along with equipment used for teaching in the early childhood section. Two classrooms were left unusable after their doors and infrastructure were damaged.

School director Miriam Caballero said the early education pupils lost a television, a laptop and a projector. The thieves also took trays, utensils and cups used for the Hambre Cero school meal program, as well as milk, chipitas, palitos and peanuts for snacks. Police arrested three suspected participants, but recovered almost none of the stolen property. Only minor items, including glue, paints and cleaning kits, were found. Caballero said the school receives police support when students arrive and leave, but the main danger comes before dawn, when the grounds are empty.
