Not everyone is destined to make it from BBNaija — Ex-housemate Tochi

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tochi Okechukwu has a blunt message for contestants struggling after the show: put the celebrity label away and get back to work.

Tochi, who appeared on the 2020 Lockdown edition, offered the advice in a post on X. He told former housemates to look beyond the fame attached to the programme and concentrate on hustling, business and personal growth. “If you’re a Bbnaija Ex housemate and you’re going through a rough time listen ‘pack up all that I am a celebrity nonsense and lock it inside a box.. come out and hustle oh, if not you go cry pass new born baby oh’,” he wrote.

He said he stopped seeing himself mainly as a reality television personality in 2024. “I have even forgotten I went on that show since 2024, I see myself as a bueinsss man now.. destiny differs not everyone is destined to make it from the show, keep your head up and live your truth,” he said.

Tochi also urged his former colleagues to choose friends who support, motivate and encourage them, rather than people who constantly remind them that they are celebrities. He said former housemates should be recognised for their work, character and determination, not simply for their time on reality television.

His comments came after former Season 10 housemate Daniel Olatunji, known as Danboskid, described his own difficulties and said he was starting over. Olatunji said he had returned to his family home and was sleeping in his sister’s room while planning a movie, an accessories brand and Uber driving work. He said he wanted advice and support, not pity, as he tried to rebuild his life.
