Not Rp1, Pramono changes Jakarta transport fare for August 17 to Rp8

Jakarta's provincial government has revised the public transportation fare for August 17, 2026, changing it from the previously announced Rp1 to Rp8. Governor Pramono Anung stated that this decision was made after coordination with the central government.

After we coordinated with the Central Government and also with City Hall, then for August 17, we revised the fare to not Rp1 but Rp8.

The adjustment aims to ensure consistency, making the fare managed by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government uniform with the rate set by the Central Government. "So that all fares in commemoration of August 17 are Rp8," Pramono explained in South Jakarta on Thursday.

Earlier, on August 9, Pramono had set a special fare of only Rp1 for all public transportation managed by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government on August 17. He described this initial plan as a gift to the capital's residents in celebration of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence.

So that the fare decided or managed by the Central Government with the Jakarta Government is the same. Thus, all fares in commemoration of August 17 are Rp8.

The shift from Rp1 to Rp8 reflects a move towards standardization, ensuring that the celebratory fare aligns with national transportation pricing guidelines for the significant Independence Day commemoration.
