Mexican content creator Esen Alvarado recounted a stressful encounter in New York City where a taxi driver aggressively demanded a tip of at least 30%. Alvarado and his colleague, Islas Vlogs, opted for a yellow taxi from the airport to their hotel, finding the fare of $84 to be less than the estimated $130 from a ride-sharing app.

However, the situation escalated when the driver insisted on a substantial tip, equivalent to about 500 pesos, citing the nearly hour-long journey. Alvarado's refusal to pay the demanded amount led to a public argument.
