O'Donnell Found Intimate Scenes With 'Sex and the City' Co-Star 'Awful'

Rosie O'Donnell has candidly described the experience of filming an intimate scene with her longtime friend Cynthia Nixon for the series "And Just Like That..." as "awful" and "uncomfortable."

O'Donnell, who joined the show in its third season as Sister Mary, a nun who begins a relationship with Nixon's character Miranda Hobbes, revealed her nervousness during an appearance on Amy Poehler's podcast "Good Hang."

She explained that she hadn't fully grasped the extent of the intimacy when she accepted the role. "First of all, I adore her. I really love her and respect her so much," O'Donnell said of Nixon. "She called me and said, 'Ro, Michael Patrick King wrote you a scene, and it's with me. Do you want to do it?' I said, 'With you, of course.' Then I read the script and realized I was in bed with just a sheet over me. I was like, 'Oh my God.'"

Showrunner Michael Patrick King had reportedly been trying to find a role for O'Donnell for years. Nixon herself reached out to O'Donnell to offer her the part, expressing her own enthusiasm for the collaboration. "So this time, when he told me what the idea was, I thought it was fantastic. He let me text her myself, describe the role, and ask if we could send her the script. We were all hoping for the best," Nixon recalled.
