Oaxaca prosecutor releases sketch of suspect in journalist's murder

Oaxaca's prosecutor general, Bernardo Rodríguez Alamilla, announced that authorities have released a composite sketch of one of the material perpetrators in the murder of journalist Francisco Alejandro Leyva Aguilar. Four individuals are currently being held for questioning in connection with the crime.

During a press conference, Rodríguez Alamilla detailed the progress of the investigation. He shared that investigators identified the entry and exit routes used by the assailants. The motorcycle used in the attack was recovered, along with the firearm believed to have been used in the killing. A second vehicle employed by the aggressors has also been identified.

Video evidence presented shows the perpetrators arriving at the La Esmeralda neighborhood in San Pablo Etla, Oaxaca, the moment they assassinated Leyva, and their subsequent escape. The footage reveals the suspects entering San Lorenzo Cacaotepec, where they abandoned the motorcycle in a remote area. They then disposed of their weapons and changed their clothes before fleeing in a 2008 Peugeot, model year 2026, which has since been identified by authorities. The investigation is ongoing to apprehend all responsible parties.
