OB buys dangerous winger from Vejle

Superliga club OB has strengthened its squad by acquiring Christian Gammelgaard from 1st division side Vejle Boldklub. The club announced the signing on its website Monday, confirming Gammelgaard has agreed to a five-year contract.

OB's sports director, Troels Bech, expressed great satisfaction with the acquisition, describing Gammelgaard as a unique player type for their squad. "Christian Gammelgaard is a player type we don't have in the squad. He is a left-footed right winger who has already proven he can deliver at a high level in the Superliga," Bech stated. He added that at 23, Gammelgaard is beyond the 'talent' stage and expected to take responsibility, perform, and elevate his teammates.

Gammelgaard has spent his entire career with Vejle, aside from a brief loan spell at Fredericia. He has played 69 Superliga matches, scoring nine goals. Eight of those goals came in the most recent season, but his contributions were insufficient to prevent Vejle's relegation.

Following their drop from the top flight, Vejle needed to secure a transfer for their key player. Sports director Mikkel Hemmersam confirmed the sale: "I am satisfied with the sale of Christian Gammelgaard, whom we are sending on to a Superliga club. We have rejected several bids for our players during the transfer window, but OB has met our expectations for a permanent transfer of Christian Gammelgaard." He stressed that Vejle is a selling club dependent on player sales to maintain its structure in the 1st division.

Gammelgaard's new club, OB, has accumulated three points after four rounds of play in the current Superliga season.
