Obi, Amaechi honour Rhodes-Vivour at funeral

Lagos State was the scene of a significant gathering of political figures on Wednesday for the funeral service of Nkechi Rhodes-Vivour, the mother of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for the state. The service took place at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Fountain of Life Sanctuary, following a service of songs held the previous evening.

Among the notable attendees were former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Rivers State governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi. The family of the deceased, led by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, issued a statement expressing their deep appreciation for the support, empathy, and presence of guests during their time of grief.

Rhodes-Vivour specifically extended his thanks to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Amaechi, Obi, and Kashim Imam for their solidarity. He also acknowledged Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, Ken Pela, Olumide Akpata, and Abdul-Azeez Adediran for their condolences and support.

Reflecting on the loss, Rhodes-Vivour shared, "There is a certain vulnerability that comes with the loss of a loved one. It changes one's perspective on life and reminds us of what truly matters." He described his late mother as a woman whose legacy was defined by the profound love she extended to her family, her work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, her involvement with ECOWAS, her church, and her friends. He expressed confidence that her memory would continue to inspire those who knew her and uphold the values she embodied.
