Obi unveils education, industrialisation agenda

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has unveiled his vision for Nigeria, centered on education, industrialization, and human capital development. Obi stated that his administration would prioritize national unity and inclusive governance as cornerstones for economic transformation.

Robust human capital is indispensable infrastructure for national progress. It serves as the fundamental capital upon which daily life, economic expansion, and the delivery of essential public services depend.

His proposed roadmap is anchored on "unity, inclusion, social justice, equity, and the freedom of every citizen to pursue lawful dreams." Obi highlighted education and healthcare as critical areas for developing the nation's human capital, calling it indispensable infrastructure for national progress. He plans to establish a task force to significantly reduce the number of out-of-school children and strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to support industrialization and job creation.

He also intends to emphasize TVET to drive industrialization, supported by agricultural endowments and value addition. Obi envisions partnerships between government, the private sector, and social entrepreneurs to fund and improve TVET institutions, creating apprenticeship opportunities similar to Germany's dual education system.
