Tensions flared at the Dinajpur border today as Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) thwarted an alleged attempt by India's Border Security Force (BSF) to push nine individuals into Bangladesh. The incident occurred near the Khiar Mamudpur border in Birampur upazila.

The first attempt, occurring in the early morning hours under the cover of darkness, was stopped by a BGB patrol team. Later, around 7:00 AM, approximately 30 BSF personnel allegedly made a second push, insisting the nine individuals were Bangladeshi nationals. BGB, supported by Ansar members and local villagers, successfully repelled the group back towards the Indian side.

Sources within the BGB indicated that the nine individuals remained on the Indian side of the border in a bamboo grove. The BGB has formally informed the BSF commander of the Bhimpur camp that entry into Bangladesh will only be permitted through established due process. In a show of solidarity, over 100 local villagers armed with sticks gathered at the border, standing alongside BGB personnel.
