A food cart worker at Chittagong University's railway station stands accused of sexually harassing a female student as she boarded a shuttle train. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon, prompting immediate action from fellow students who detained the suspect, identified as Md Shahin Sheikh.

According to witnesses and the first-year undergraduate victim, Sheikh allegedly made unwanted physical contact while she was boarding the 4:40 pm train to Chattogram Railway Station. Students who observed the alleged harassment intervened swiftly, apprehending Sheikh. He has since denied the allegations.

We have discussed the matter with the railway police to ensure exemplary punishment if the allegation is proven. Following the filing of the case, the university administration will extend full cooperation to ensure a fair investigation and justice.

University authorities, including the proctorial body, arrived at the scene to manage the situation. Both the accused and the victim were taken to the university's security office for questioning. With the victim's consent, Sheikh was transferred to the Chattogram Railway Police Station late last night, after which the student formally filed a case against him.

Proctor Prof Hossain Shahid Sarwardy assured that the university would cooperate fully with the railway police to ensure justice if the allegations are proven. The Officer-in-Charge of Chattogram Railway Police Station confirmed that the accused would be presented in court today.
