Dinesh Trivedi, India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, underscored the vital role of people-to-people connections in fostering the enduring friendship between Bangladesh and India. Speaking at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka during the celebration of India’s 80th Independence Day, Trivedi stated that these connections, built on shared aspirations and mutual goodwill, form the true foundation of the bilateral relationship.

High Commissioner Trivedi noted that both nations are actively advancing their partnership across critical sectors, including trade, connectivity, security, and healthcare. He called for continued collaboration to achieve mutual prosperity, emphasizing that the relationship is rooted in a shared history, particularly the freedom struggle, and is built upon mutual respect and partnership.

The event, attended by Indian Deputy High Commissioner Pawan Badhe, members of the Indian community including students, and prominent Bangladeshi personalities, served as an occasion to reflect on the special bond between the two countries. As part of the Independence Day observances, the High Commission staff also participated in a 'Swachhata Abhiyan' (cleanliness drive) in the vicinity of the mission. The High Commissioner conveyed remarks from Indian President Droupadi Murmu, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi's greetings were also shared.
