The Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), is on the verge of announcing its new central committee. Party insiders revealed on Friday that the announcement is expected within the next one or two days as the current committee's term nears its end.

Top JCD leaders have already presented a shortlist of potential candidates to BNP Chairman and acting leader Tarique Rahman. The party sources indicate that the new committee will be officially declared only after receiving the final green signal from Rahman. He held a meeting with JCD leaders on Thursday night at his Gulshan political office, where they were reportedly asked to submit their preferred choices for the new leadership through a secret ballot.

The July uprising was our toughest test. Maintaining the organisational structure at every level and inspiring the activists and members involved in the uprising were our biggest challenges.

Following the meeting, a sense of anticipation and tension has risen among those vying for positions in the new committee. Candidates are reportedly hoping their contributions to the party, particularly during periods of political struggle, will be considered. Several prominent leaders are being discussed for top roles, including central organizational secretary Amanullah Aman and vice presidents Monjurul Alam Riyad and Khorshed Alam Sohel, among others. The process involves final scrutiny before the committee's announcement.
