The death toll from the collapse of a boundary wall at Mirpur University College has risen to three following the death of a 50-year-old woman who succumbed to her injuries. The incident, which occurred earlier, had already claimed the lives of a cleaner and a rickshaw puller.

The college authorities have established a seven-member committee tasked with investigating the tragedy. This committee is expected to submit its findings within seven working days. Additionally, a three-member committee, led by the vice-principal, has been formed to manage victim compensation and liaise with the families affected by the collapse.

The latest victim, Beauty Begum, was reportedly buying flour from a government sale when the wall fell. Her sister-in-law shared that the family had moved to Dhaka seeking better economic opportunities, with Beauty's husband working as a rickshaw puller and their children in garment factories. The family's situation had reportedly been improving before this tragic incident. The boundary wall, originally built in 2002 and later extended, lacked pillars or beams, according to an office assistant at the college, potentially contributing to its structural failure. At least five other individuals were injured and are receiving treatment in various hospitals.
