Two people died and at least six others were injured when a boundary wall at Mirpur University College in Dhaka suddenly collapsed. The incident occurred as a crowd, primarily women, waited in line to purchase subsidized essential goods from the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB). The 8ft high wall gave way around 1:30 p.m. One victim, 43-year-old Nasima Begum, died en route to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR). An unidentified man, approximately 45 years old, was pronounced dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Six injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at NITOR and DMCH. Nasima's mother, Shahida Begum, shared that her daughter, a cleaner, had gone to buy discounted TCB products due to financial difficulties. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud bang before the wall fell. Locals assisted in removing debris and rescuing those affected. A student mentioned the wall was built a few years ago and suggested recent rainfall might have contributed to its collapse, though authorities have not yet confirmed the cause.
