A journalist in Sylhet, Bangladesh, was assaulted on Friday after attempting to de-escalate a road rage incident. Kabir Ahmed, a journalist with Kaler Kantho Multimedia, intervened when a car allegedly drove recklessly, swerving towards his group's microbus and hitting an auto-rickshaw.

Witnesses reported that when the microbus driver confronted the car's occupants about their dangerous driving, the car stopped, blocking their path. Several young men then emerged and attacked the microbus driver. Ahmed was also assaulted when he tried to intervene. Local residents reportedly joined the attackers before police arrived.

Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Usman Gani stated that police arrived to find a crowd and brought the situation under control, quickly sending the injured to the hospital. However, the attackers could not be apprehended due to the large crowd. Police have identified the individuals and the vehicle and plan to take legal action once a formal case is registered.
