Authorities have filed a case against unknown individuals following a bomb explosion in Bakerganj upazila, Bangladesh, which injured three members of a family. The case, filed early today by Jamal Hawlader on behalf of the victims' family, accuses suspects of attempted murder and causing the blast.

Investigating Officer Nur Mohammad described the incident as "the first bomb attack of this kind in Bakerganj" and stated that police are investigating it very seriously. Jamal Hawlader reported that his mother, Hanufa Begum, sister Iti Hawlader, and nephew Fahim are receiving treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka. His mother and nephew remain in critical condition.

Hawlader suggested the attack could be connected to a long-standing land dispute involving 17 decimals of land, which had previously led to an altercation. The family had informed the police about the dispute. Meanwhile, a Bomb Disposal Unit inspected the scene, identifying the device as a locally made victim-operated bomb (VOB). Forensic analysis is pending to determine the exact explosive used, though investigators recovered a wire and other materials.

Barishal Superintendent of Police AZM Mostafizur Rahman indicated that investigators are exploring multiple motives, including the land dispute and potential links to recent bomb recoveries in Dhaka. The possibility of involvement by an organized group is also being examined as investigators look into all possible angles.
