Two months after powerful twin earthquakes struck Venezuela, the interim government has reported a grim toll of 6,509 deaths. The devastating magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 tremors, which occurred on June 24, ravaged the coastal state of La Guaira, leading to the collapse of at least 190 buildings.

Recovery efforts are still underway in La Guaira, where search teams continue to work under the rubble in hopes of finding more victims. The disaster left thousands of residents homeless, forcing many to seek shelter in makeshift camps that have sprung up across the affected region.

Authorities have pledged to rehouse 4,000 families by the end of the year and have so far provided 335 homes to those displaced by the earthquakes. However, the exact number of people still missing remains undisclosed, adding to the uncertainty and grief faced by many families in the aftermath of the disaster.
