Female students at Dhaka University continue their protest against nighttime entry restrictions in residential halls, with no visible action from the university authorities despite over two weeks of demonstrations. The movement, initially under the banner “Boishommohin Nari Hall Chai,” has fractured into three distinct platforms due to ideological differences and approaches to changing the hall entry rules.

Two of the groups are advocating for round-the-clock access to the halls. A third group, however, expresses security concerns and seeks greater flexibility for late-night entry rather than complete open access. The “Boishommohin Nari Hall Chai” platform includes activists from Chhatra Dal and several Ducsu and hall union leaders. The “Nari Hall Songskar Andolon” is largely composed of Chhatra Shakti activists, along with Ducsu leaders and hall union leaders.

Protesters have employed various tactics, including signature campaigns, protest graffiti, rallies, leaflet distribution, and submitting memorandums. The left-leaning “Oborodhbashini,” demanding 24-hour hall access, issued a 48-hour ultimatum that expired without a response from the administration. "The authorities are showing reluctance over the issue, despite our struggles being very evident," said Israt Jahan Emu, a leader of Oborodhbashini, indicating plans for further mobilization.
