Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called for unity and collective action to foster a happy, prosperous, and discrimination-free Bangladesh. Speaking at a meeting with representatives of ethnic minority communities, Rahman emphasized that working together is crucial for the nation's survival and future development.

The ethnic minority representatives present at the meeting outlined several key demands. These included the establishment of a land commission to address land ownership disputes, the organization of a national convention for ethnic minorities and backward communities, and the provision of clan-based identities instead of the general term 'ethnic minority.' They also requested the creation of a central cultural center and access to loan facilities.

In his response, Rahman acknowledged the country's challenging economic circumstances, attributing them to what he described as a "fascist government" that allegedly destroyed institutions and the economy, leading to significant money laundering. He stated that the government is prioritizing and addressing issues in phases, focusing on those that can be resolved immediately. He assured the representatives that his government is committed to building a nation free from racial or community discrimination, recognizing ethnic minorities as an integral part of Bangladesh.
