China has emerged as a global leader in robotics, developing more than 400 humanoid robot models, which accounts for over half of the world's total, according to a report citing the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The nation's quadruped robots also dominate the market, making up nearly 70 percent of global sales. The state-run Global Times reported that China has effectively leveraged its advanced manufacturing capabilities and digital economy to accelerate progress in robotics and related technologies.

Eastern China's Zhejiang Province has become a significant robotics hub. In the first half of the year, the province exported over one billion yuan (approximately USD 147 million) worth of robots, with intelligent bionic robots comprising about 60 percent of China's total exports in this category. Hangzhou Customs attributed this growth to Zhejiang's comprehensive robotics ecosystem, which encompasses research and development, component manufacturing, assembly, software development, and international sales. Hangzhou alone hosts over 700 companies involved in the robotics supply chain.

The report also highlighted China's ongoing expansion of its digital infrastructure. As of the end of June, the country had established 5.102 million 5G base stations. Authorities are actively promoting the commercial deployment of 5G-Advanced (5G-A) networks and initiating pilot projects for 10-gigabit fiber broadband in various areas, including residential zones, factories, and industrial parks.
