Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on newspaper editors to maintain a balance in their reporting, encouraging them to offer constructive criticism of the government while also publicizing its positive actions. Rahman emphasized the importance of keeping the public informed about measures taken in the public interest.

The Prime Minister made these remarks during a meeting with leaders of the National Editors' Council at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Bangladesh Secretariat. The discussion focused on various issues pertinent to the media landscape, journalism practices, and fostering cooperation between the government and the press.

Rahman also requested the editors' collaboration in formulating a policy framework. The aim of this framework is to ensure a free and independent media environment and to provide protection for journalists. The delegation included prominent figures from various newspapers, such as Shafik Rehman of Jaijaidin, Mahmudur Rahman of Amar Desh, and Maruf Kamal Khan of Protidiner Bangladesh, among others.
