ÖFB Cup: Bundesliga clubs win comfortably as Innsbruck claims second-tier clash

LASK, Sturm Graz and Austria Lustenau moved into the ÖFB Cup round of 16 with emphatic wins on Saturday. Wacker Innsbruck also advanced after producing the day’s comeback, overturning a two-goal deficit against Blau-Weiß Linz in a 3-2 win.

Defending champions LASK had few problems at Deutschlandsberger SC, winning 6-1 despite coach Dietmar Kühbauer making numerous changes three days before the club’s Champions League debut at AEK Athens. Christoph Lang, Nael Kane twice, Krystof Danek, Florian Flecker and Sascha Horvath scored for the visitors.

Sturm Graz faced a tougher contest at ASK Voitsberg. Nelson Weiper put the Graz side ahead in the 16th minute, but Simon Seidl did not add a second until the 67th. Gizo Mamageishvili scored three minutes later, before Otar Kiteishvili completed the 4-1 win in the 87th minute. Kiteishvili came on in the 77th minute for his first appearance since July 21 after recovering from a calf injury.

Austria Lustenau fell 2-1 behind at Lafnitz after half an hour but regained the lead at 3-2 in the 71st minute and pulled away late to win 6-2. In Linz, Blau-Weiß led 2-0 after 20 minutes, only for Innsbruck to score three times between the 73rd and 86th minutes. Altach and Ried had already qualified on Friday, while Schwarz Weiß Bregenz and Hertha Wels also progressed.
