Official Close to Patricia Bullrich Announces Departure from Health Ministry

Mara Pérez Reynoso, who served as the National Director of Sexual and Reproductive Health within Argentina's Ministry of Health, announced her resignation. She shared the news via a post on the social media platform X, detailing her work during her tenure and expressing her commitment to "ideas of freedom" moving forward. Reynoso's post outlined several key accomplishments, including the regularization of processes for acquiring strategic supplies and medications, the establishment of a monthly federal meeting with all provinces to monitor and design health policies nationwide, and the incorporation of a comprehensive approach to sexual and reproductive health. This approach, she noted, strengthened the prevention of sexually transmitted infections. She also emphasized a shift in the area's focus, moving beyond a narrow view of abortion and contraception to address sexual and reproductive health from a family development perspective, grounded in scientific evidence and free from ideological biases. Reynoso described her time in the Milei administration as an "enormous honor," expressing satisfaction in working with conviction, professionalism, and a vocation for service. She stated her belief in a more efficient and transparent state that truly serves its citizens, noting that while positions are temporary, convictions are not. Before her role in the Ministry of Health, where she was appointed in January 2024, Reynoso worked in the Ministry of Security's Office of Coordination of Diversity and Non-Discrimination from 2019 to 2025, during the administrations of Patricia Bullrich and Mauricio Macri. In an earlier Instagram post, Reynoso referred to former presidential candidate Patricia Bullrich as her "first school," crediting Bullrich with teaching her that politics is a responsibility and service is honored through work.
