Official Intercepted on Stolen Motorcycle Arriving at Polling Station in Chiclayo

During the second round of the General Elections in Peru, police in Chiclayo intercepted a man riding a motorcycle with a current theft report. The individual, who claimed to be a political party representative, was stopped during a preventive patrol operation near polling stations in the Zaña district, Lambayeque region.

Agents noticed suspicious behavior from the 27-year-old man, identified as Shoji Kazuyoshi Miyakawa Fuentes. A vehicle inspection revealed irregularities with the motorcycle's chassis number, which appeared to have been re-engraved. Preliminary forensic analysis confirmed that the original numbering had been altered.

Further checks revealed that the motorcycle, a Bajaj Pulsar NS150 with license plate 4528-1F, had a valid theft report issued by the Vehicle Theft Prevention and Investigation Section (Seprove) of Lambayeque-Chiclayo on November 18, 2024. The man was also not carrying his national identity document at the time of the intervention.

Miyakawa Fuentes stated he was acting as a representative for a political organization participating in the election. Based on the evidence, he was arrested for the alleged crime of receiving stolen goods and taken into police custody. Investigations are ongoing to determine how he obtained the motorcycle and establish any potential criminal responsibilities, with the participation of the Public Ministry.
