Official: Rustonder is a Panathinaikos Player

Greek football club Panathinaikos has officially announced the acquisition of striker Elmin Rustonder from Swiss champions FC Thun. The 24-year-old forward has committed to a four-year contract with the Athens-based club, marking a significant addition to their squad.

Rustonder underwent his medical examinations on Monday and finalized his contract in the afternoon. He is set to join his new teammates in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, on Tuesday to integrate with the team's pre-season training camp. This move signals Panathinaikos' intent to strengthen their attacking options for the upcoming season.

Born in Wetzikon, Switzerland, on October 7, 2001, Rustonder began his football journey in Grasshopper's academy in 2017. He progressed through the youth ranks, making his professional debut in the Challenge League in October 2020. He later featured in the Swiss Super League before a loan spell at Vaduz, where he gained significant playing time and scored 12 goals in 44 appearances.

Returning to Grasshopper in 2023, Rustonder was loaned to Vaduz again. His strong performances led to a move to Thun in the summer of 2024 on a three-year deal. He played a pivotal role in Thun's promotion to the Swiss Super League and their historic first league championship, contributing 15 goals and six assists in 36 matches.
