Ogun ADC faction names AI expert Ogundipe as governorship candidate

The Ogun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the leadership of Emmanuel Famojuro, has declared Dr. Biodun Ogundipe, an Artificial Intelligence expert based in Canada, as the party's legitimate governorship candidate for the 2027 elections. The faction stated that Ogundipe won the party's governorship primary.

The attention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogun State Chapter, has been drawn to a misleading and unauthorized publication claiming that one Barrister Adebimpe Adelowo announced Otunba Jimi Lawal as the winner of the Ogun State Governorship Primary Election.

This announcement follows a conflicting claim where Adebimpe Adelowo, identified as the Secretary of the Ogun State Primary Election Committee, announced Otunba Jimi Lawal as the winner. Adelowo reported Lawal secured 19,428 votes, defeating Ogundipe with 5,775 votes and Dr. Marie Odusina with 4,825 votes.

We hereby state categorically that the said announcement is null, void, misleading, and of no effect whatsoever.

However, the Famojuro-led faction dismissed Adelowo's announcement as null and void, asserting he was not a member of the duly constituted electoral committee sent by the national leadership. The party emphasized that the authentic primary election was conducted peacefully and transparently across all wards, under the supervision of the nationally recognized committee, with Ogundipe emerging as the clear winner. The party condemned attempts by unauthorized individuals to create confusion.
