Ogun Governor celebrates wife's 60th birthday with glowing tribute

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun honored his wife, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, with glowing tributes during a special thanksgiving service for her 60th birthday. He described her as a woman of virtue, compassion, and unwavering faith, highlighting her indispensable support throughout his life and public service.

During the service at the Government House Chapel in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun expressed gratitude for their nearly four decades of marriage and for his wife's efforts in maintaining their home front. He reflected on their early days, recalling driving from Ife to Ibadan to see her when they were university students, and marveled at how God had granted them the privilege of leading Ogun State.

When I remember that our paths crossed about 39 years ago, I cannot but thank God for how He has preserved us. At the time, I was in Ife while she was at the University of Ibadan. I used to drive to Ibadan to see her. Neither of us knew that one day God would grant us the privilege of becoming the First Family of Ogun State.

Mrs. Abiodun, marking her Diamond Jubilee, viewed the occasion as a divine call to deepen her commitment to service and humanity. She renewed her resolve to impact lives through her humanitarian initiatives and dedicated service to the people of Ogun State, acknowledging God as her source of strength.

Others present also lauded the First Lady. The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, called her a devoted wife and dependable pillar of support for the governor. Hon. Funmi Afuwape, an APC House of Representatives candidate, hailed her as a humble mentor whose passion for empowerment has inspired many. Mrs. Adebimpe Folusho Obienu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, described her as an exemplary role model embodying selfless service, particularly noting her compassion for women, children, and the vulnerable.

I believe that when we think about our lives in terms of the number of days we have lived, and then consider the number of minutes and seconds our hearts have beaten, we are reminded that we must remain accountable to Almighty God.
