Ogun PDP chieftain declares for Senate

In a significant political development in Ogun State, Nigeria, Giwa Adetayo Odulana, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has officially declared his candidacy for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 elections. The declaration was made during a stakeholders' meeting at the PDP Ward 3 Secretariat in Itantebo, Ijebu-Ode.

I have come here today to say that I will be running for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in 2027. There are definitely lapses in governance in the senatorial district, whether in education, health, job creation for our youth, and good roads, among other areas, begging for attention.

Odulana, who is popularly known as Ajirotutu, articulated his motivation for seeking the senatorial position, emphasizing his commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the constituents of Ogun East through robust legislative action. He highlighted perceived governance lapses in areas such as education, healthcare, youth employment, and infrastructure, and expressed a strong belief in the necessity of a 'generational shift' in leadership to drive socio-economic progress.

Definitely, the All Progressives Congress has been quite disappointing, and this cannot continue in 2027. It is time to give the youth the opportunity to go out there and do things differently so that everyone will know that things are truly changing.

He further pledged to champion inclusive governance, ensuring that the welfare of all citizens, particularly women and youth, is prioritized alongside crucial infrastructural development. Odulana also critiqued the performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), suggesting that the PDP offers a more hopeful alternative for Nigerians experiencing hardship. The PDP State Vice Chairman, Otunba Ayinde Awobadejo, welcomed Odulana's declaration, assuring him of a fair electoral process and urging party members to mobilize for victory in 2027.
