Ohaneze Ndigbo applauds Tinubu over Tor’s appointment, says it signals renewed hope

The FCT Chapter of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has applauded President Bola Tinubu for appointing Ginika Florence-Tor to the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, viewing it as a significant step toward strengthening the South-East's participation in national governance.

Since 1999 this is the first time the Igbo people have been remembered, when I heard the news I was thankful to the President for remembering our people.

Mr. Andrew Ugwu, President of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo FCT chapter, stated that the appointment reflects Tinubu's dedication to inclusive governance, merit, and equitable representation. He noted Tor's extensive experience in public service and leadership as qualifications for the national role. Ugwu emphasized that this is the first time the Igbo people have been "remembered" since 1999, expressing gratitude to the President.

Across the South-East states, we see a lot of road projects going on and this shows that the President is doing well, but like Oliver Twist, we still urge the President to do more for us.

According to Ugwu, the appointment has instilled renewed confidence in the South-East zone, demonstrating the Federal Government's willingness to utilize competent professionals from all regions for national development. He also pointed to ongoing road projects across the South-East as evidence of the President's positive impact, while also urging for further action.

I sincerely thank Mr President for this great honor, the appointment came to me as a surprise and I am deeply grateful for the confidence he has placed in me.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo expressed strong faith in Tor's ability to contribute significantly to the commission's mandate of promoting fair wage and income policies. Ugwu also congratulated Tor on a recent international honor received in Liberia, highlighting that both her federal appointment and global recognition are testaments to her dedication and professionalism. The group pledged continued support for initiatives promoting national unity and inclusive development.

I was in Liberia to receive an award and that was where the news got to me. I started receiving congratulatory messages and calls from Nigerians who spilled the news of my appointment to me.
