OIC Warns Against Israeli Plans Targeting Hebron and its Holy Sites

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a stern warning against Israeli actions that it says threaten to alter the political, historical, and legal status of Hebron and its sacred sites. The OIC specifically condemned a recent decision by Israel's finance minister to strip the municipality of its authority over the Ibrahimi Mosque, the Old City, and surrounding areas, as well as to revoke the Hebron Agreement.

In a strong statement, the OIC emphasized that Israel holds no sovereignty over Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including Hebron and its holy sites. The organization stressed that all religious, historical, heritage, and cultural sites within the city fall under this principle, in accordance with relevant United Nations and UNESCO resolutions.

It reiterated that these sites are an inseparable part of the territory of the State of Palestine, underscoring the international legal framework governing the occupied territories.
