Oilers hire Misha Donskov as coaching consultant

The Edmonton Oilers have added Misha Donskov to their coaching staff as a consultant, the NHL club announced Thursday.

Donskov brings a wealth of experience from various levels of hockey operations and coaching. He began his tenure with the Vegas Golden Knights as director of hockey operations before their inaugural 2017-18 season. He later served as an assistant coach when the team won the Stanley Cup in 2023, followed by two seasons as an assistant coach with the Dallas Stars.

His international coaching resume is also extensive. Donskov was an assistant coach for Canadian teams that secured gold at the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off and silver at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. He also served as an associate coach for Canada's bronze medal-winning team at the 2026 world junior championship. Prior to these roles, he worked with Canadian national teams, often as a video coach.

In addition to his new role with the Oilers, Donskov will continue his position as vice-president of hockey operations and men's national team coach for Hockey Canada, a role he assumed on June 27, 2025. He is slated to coach Canada at the upcoming men's world championship and world junior championship.
