Okpebholo promises to complete facilities for Edo’s 83 Division within two weeks

Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo says the temporary facility for the Nigerian Army’s new 83 Division will be ready within two weeks, as work continues at the site in Teboga, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.

Okpebholo inspected the ongoing rehabilitation and development work in Benin on Monday. He said environmental sanitation had begun, existing structures were being repaired and other preparations were under way for the division’s arrival.

The governor said rehabilitation of the existing buildings would continue alongside other construction activities. He also said Edo had alternative temporary office spaces available if they were needed for immediate use.

The contractor has assured me that he will add more bulldozers to what he already has on site.

President Bola Tinubu approved the establishment of four new Nigerian Army divisions in Makurdi, Ilorin, Jalingo and Benin. The Benin formation is designated the 83 Division.

Brig. Gen. Ahmed Balogun, commander of the Army’s 4 Brigade, said the inspection followed Tinubu’s directive, conveyed through Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, to operationalise the division. Balogun said an Army Headquarters team had visited the facility four or five days earlier and commended the governor for making the temporary site available.
