Old guard petistas relieved by Janja's praise for Marisa Letícia

According to one supporter, who has known Lula for decades, Janja's mention of Marisa Letícia was "historic" and "washed the soul." This sentiment stems from a previously unresolved tension between Janja and the memory of Marisa, who passed away in 2017. These tensions reportedly involved Lula's children and contributed to some petistas blaming Janja for limiting Lula's contact with old friends.

During the rally in São Bernardo do Campo, Janja stated, "I would like to especially remember one Silva, president, Dona Marisa. She who, along with so many other women who were not on the factory floor, played an essential role behind the scenes." She added, "They were the foundation so that their husbands could fight for better wages and more dignity for their families. She was the one who embroidered the first PT flag. And it is to her that I dedicate all my admiration."
