Olimpia Champion Quintana Moves to Ecuador's Independiente del Valle

Hugo Lorenzo Quintana is embarking on a new international chapter, joining Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle after a successful stint with Paraguayan champions Olimpia. The 24-year-old midfielder was instrumental in Olimpia's Apertura 2026 championship victory and their advancement to the Copa Sudamericana quarterfinals.

Independiente del Valle has secured 50 percent of Quintana's economic rights in the transfer. This move represents the third time Quintana has played abroad, and his second professional transfer internationally. He joins fellow Paraguayans Luis Felipe Zárate and Carlos Gabriel "Cocoliso" González at the Ecuadorian club.

Quintana is joining Independiente del Valle at the peak of his form, having played 23 matches and scored 3 goals during the recent semester. His contributions were vital to Olimpia's title win and their strong performance in the Copa Sudamericana.

This transfer marks another significant step in Quintana's career. During his formative years, he spent time at Palmeiras in 2020 before returning to Paraguay. He was later loaned to Liverpool of Montevideo in mid-2024, where he also clinched a Uruguayan league title. Despite his young age, Quintana has already amassed eight championship medals in Paraguay and Uruguay.
