Olokoro Launches Development Trust Fund for Sustainable Community Growth

The Olokoro community is laying the groundwork for enduring development with the inauguration of the Olokoro Development Trust Fund (ODTF). This new institution is designed to foster sustainable progress, safeguard community assets, and enhance the quality of life for both current and future residents.

Communities often struggle to maintain development momentum once individual leaders or benefactors depart. Many initiatives falter due to weak institutional structures, poor governance, and a lack of long-term vision. The ODTF aims to break this cycle by establishing a lasting institution rather than relying on temporary projects.

The Trust Fund's establishment was inspired by the philanthropic vision of Engr. Oyibo Thompson, whose generosity provided its initial foundation during his 80th birthday celebrations. However, stakeholders are committed to ensuring the ODTF transcends mere charitable giving, evolving into a permanent entity capable of sustained impact.

A key outcome of the inaugural Board Induction, Governance and Strategic Planning Workshop was the firm commitment to governance as the ODTF's cornerstone. Participants endorsed principles of accountability, transparency, ethical leadership, prudent financial management, professionalism, community ownership, and institutional independence. The adopted Governance Charter will serve as the foundational framework for the Trust Fund's operations, ensuring continuity and excellence regardless of leadership changes.
