Olympic qualifier: Comoros beat Sudan 30-0, to face Falcons

Comoros has advanced to the next round of the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers after achieving a resounding 30-0 aggregate victory over Sudan. The team, known as the Coelacanths, first secured a commanding 17-0 win in the initial leg on June 3, followed by a decisive 13-0 triumph five days later.

During the first leg, Comoros demonstrated relentless attacking prowess, scoring early and overwhelming the Sudanese defense. Nine different players contributed to the scoreline, showcasing the team's offensive depth. The second leg continued this trend, with Comoros adding 10 goals in the second half to seal their dominant aggregate win.

Their next challenge will be a significantly tougher encounter against the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Africa's most successful women's national team. The Super Falcons are widely expected to be strong favorites in this second-round qualifier, which is scheduled to take place between October 5 and 13, 2026.

Nigeria's Super Falcons recently showcased their form by defeating Senegal 3-0 in a friendly match, following a previous 2-1 win. Two African nations will ultimately qualify for the women's football tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States.
