Oman and Qatar discuss expanding economic and investment cooperation

Omani and Qatari ministers met in Muscat to explore broader economic and investment partnerships between the two countries.

Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, Oman’s minister of commerce, industry and investment promotion, and Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, minister of transport, communications and information technology, held talks with Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, Qatar’s minister of commerce and industry, at the Invest Oman lounge.

The meeting reviewed existing economic and commercial relations and examined opportunities in trade, industry and investment. The officials also discussed transport, logistics and modern technologies as areas where the two sides could build stronger cooperation and economic integration.

The talks focused on encouraging companies and private-sector institutions in Oman and Qatar to establish qualitative partnerships and joint projects. The ministers also discussed ways to increase mutual investment, improve communication between businesspeople and maintain coordination among relevant government bodies.

The meeting formed part of what officials described as the continuing development of the fraternal relationship between Oman and Qatar. The two sides said broader partnerships and investment in promising sectors could support economic diversification, add value and strengthen the competitiveness of both economies.
