Oman Health Ministry Lists Safe School Bag Specifications

As the school year nears, Oman's Ministry of Health is prioritizing student well-being by detailing requirements for safe school bags. The ministry stresses that a bag's design significantly impacts a student's comfort and spinal health throughout the day.

Recommendations focus on practical features. Bags should be lightweight, ideally made of fabric, and possess a supportive, ventilated back. Multiple pockets are advised to help distribute weight evenly. Crucially, shoulder straps must be adjustable, wide, and padded to prevent strain.

The ministry also specified ideal bag dimensions: its width should not exceed the student's own width, its length should align with the torso's height, and the bottom should sit about 5 cm above the waist. An adjustable waist belt is also recommended to further distribute weight and ensure a proper fit.
