Oman launches National Cyber Security Strategy 2026-2030

The Sultanate of Oman has officially launched its National Cyber Security Strategy for 2026-2030. This initiative establishes a comprehensive national and institutional framework designed to significantly strengthen the nation's cyber resilience. The strategy prioritizes the protection of national interests, ensures the uninterrupted continuity of essential services, and aims to cultivate a secure and dependable cyberspace conducive to innovation and the growth of the digital economy.

Developed by the Cyber Defence Centre in collaboration with both government and private sector entities, the strategy aligns with the overarching objectives of Oman Vision 2040. Its core mission focuses on enhancing governance and trust, safeguarding society through widespread knowledge and awareness campaigns, developing a skilled national workforce, building robust and resilient infrastructure, expanding international partnerships, and nurturing a vibrant cybersecurity economy.

The strategy is structured around five key pillars: Cybersecurity governance, Cyber resilience, Cyber capacity building and awareness, Cyber cooperation, and the Cyber economy. Guiding principles include an integrated government approach, sustainable capacity building, viable national initiatives, proactive cyber foresight, effective local partnerships, strong international cooperation, and a commitment to resilience and adaptability.

Key priorities for implementation involve strengthening cybersecurity governance, improving collaboration between public and private sectors, updating relevant legislation, boosting national readiness to counter cyber threats, developing specialized national expertise, and capitalizing on investment opportunities within the cybersecurity sector. The Cyber Defence Centre will lead the implementation and conduct periodic reviews to ensure the strategy remains responsive to evolving technological landscapes and cybersecurity challenges.
