IndiGo Ventures backs sovereign AI firm Sarvam in Series B funding

IndiGo Ventures has invested in Sarvam AI, a company focused on sovereign artificial intelligence, as part of its Series B funding round. This investment from the corporate venture capital arm of IndiGo deepens an existing relationship between the two entities.

Previously, IndiGo and Sarvam collaborated on deploying AI technologies to improve passenger experience, assist airline staff, and streamline operational workflows across IndiGo's network. The aviation sector, characterized by high customer traffic, time-critical processes, and a distributed workforce, presents a significant opportunity for AI integration.

This capital infusion will enable IndiGo to establish a dedicated base to accelerate internal technology adoption and enhance operational efficiency. The strategy involves pairing IndiGo's operational scale with Sarvam's core AI stack, including voice and agentic systems.

Sarvam develops enterprise AI products, including native training and inference infrastructure and frontier models, covering voice, text, computer vision, and document processing. Pratyush Kumar, Co-founder of Sarvam, noted that aviation is a "powerful setting for enterprise AI" due to its complex operations and high volume of customer interactions. He emphasized that the collaboration with IndiGo, which brings "domain depth and scale," will help develop practical AI systems and create a stronger template for enterprise AI in India.
