Oman's North Al Sharqiyah agriculture department holds forum on water desalination importance

North Al Sharqiyah Governorate in Oman hosted a forum focused on the critical role of water desalination units in the region. Organized by the Directorate General of Agriculture and Water Resources, the gathering brought together private sector establishments, farmers, investors, and technicians.

Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ali Al Mashaikhi, Director General of Agriculture and Water Resources for the governorate, highlighted that the forum was a direct outcome of food security initiatives. He stated the primary goal was to enhance the operation of water desalination units, thereby supporting the Ministry's objective of ensuring sustainable food and water security.

The event featured presentations from private sector companies and included a question-and-answer session for attendees. A significant development was the signing of a partnership agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and Nada Al Rabee Company. This agreement aims to provide technical assistance to farmers affected by soil salinity, including the installation of water desalination units on their farms.
