Oman's OPAZ Board Holds Third Meeting for 2026, Discusses Governance and Sustainability

The Board of Directors of Oman's Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) held its third meeting of 2026, chaired by Qais Mohammed Al Yousef. The board addressed several agenda items, focusing on corporate governance for the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates "Madayn" and the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD). They also reviewed the draft executive regulation for the Special Economic Zones and Free Zones Law.

Significant decisions included the approval of updates to Madayn Vision 2040 and its phased plan for 2026-2030. These updates aim to enhance integration and improve performance, aligning with OPAZ's strategic priorities. The board also examined the restructuring project for subsidiaries of the Mubadrah Company.

Furthermore, the meeting featured a presentation on the National Net Zero Strategy 2050, outlining targets and plans to meet Oman's commitments to environmental sustainability and carbon emission reduction. In an effort to bolster internal communications, the board reviewed a study on OPAZ's current media operations, including recommendations for development and strengthening corporate communication. The communication and media strategy map, key messaging pillars, and governance framework were also discussed.
